April 27th Release Notes

Hi Everyone,

Nothing really major went in this build… we were taking a pass at a lot of backend performance issues and tweaking some sub-systems that drive large areas of the site… as well as tackling some residual bugs (cross browser compatibility and such) from the recent homepage and nav changes.

Next week we are planning some new features. The NOW page… that was discussed by our Creative Directory in the blog recently… and some additional enhancements to our social media feeds.

Here is the full list:

General Site Changes/Enhancements

  • Nuked a profile answer feed that was still being hit even though the section no longer existed.
  • Built some additional graphic queues to signify the member navigation items are more clickable.
  • Added the FORGOT PASSWORD link to the version of the nav when you are not logged in.
  • Attempted to track down some reports where users were seeing unmoderated traits in the trait selection. We were not able to recreate after much effort.
  • Corrected some IE7 width issues in the login form of the site nav.
  • The link on the badges page of the public profile now takes you to the quizzes page.
  • Reworked the activity bars on the homepage to use more consistent math.
  • Ordered lists stopped displaying in the forum. This was due to the reset.css. Because we rolled that back as part of a guild theme fix, the problem in the forums was also resolved.
  • Corrected an issue where adding a game from the type ahead was not working correctly.
  • Set a fixed width for the type ahead on the homepage so it doesn’t jump around as you search for games.
  • Corrected some layout issues on the support page due to IE dropping into quirks mode.
  • BUY links on game pages are now sorted by price asc (cheapest vendors at the top of the list)
  • Corrected Safari browser issues with some edit boxes.

Guild Hosting Changes/Enhancements

  • Using a reset.css is just not feasible given the destruction it causes to the guild themes… we are rolling this back and reworking the nav to work without the global reset.css file.
  • Cleaned up the site nav drop down so that it appears correctly on various guild themes.
  • Cleaned up the default layout of guild hosting pages.
