One could certainly argue the point of gnomes being worthless Death Nights for various reasons but I’d have to disagree. Honestly two of some of the best Death Knight’s I know personally happen to play gnomes.

I realize you favor Horde and obviously the minority as a BE makes for a much better Death Knight, in my opinion, than a Troll but outside of dwarves they are almost polar to the Troll according the the above cited study.

Either way, you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that, I also would have to agree that Orcs definitely make great Death Knights.

The Death Knight breakdown by race just goes to further demonstrate that a lot of players don’t have any clue what they is going on, they simply want to “look cool.” Only 9% of DKs as Orcs? Round of applause for those guys because they chose the very best -bar none- Death Knight race on the Horde and probably in the entire game.

The next best Horde race for a DK is likely a troll. 3%. Good work.

It’s a little bit mroe difficult to peg the best class for an Alliance DK – Humans, imo, have a slight edge over Dwarves but then again Draenei are not without their usefulness.

Night Elves work very well as DK tanks but not much else and Tauren stamina racial puts them in the same sort of catergory.

Blood Elves, Gnomes, and Undead are worthless as Death Knights.

I was actually shocked by how little of those numbers were Tauren. I’m the typical female Blood Elf Death Knight and only half of the women in my guild went blood elf with theirs. While half of the Death Knights I see are Tauren or Human. I asked one of my guildies why they wanted to be a Tauren Death Knight when they are female and they told me it’s because of how much of the wow population is male. Mind you my guild was formerly women only, specifically young moms in their twenties and we started allowing men in just because we’re so outnumbered.

I question your methodology. How many players did you survey? I know on my server (Silver Hand) Female Draenei FAR outnumber any of the other race/sex combinations. Gnome (male or female) seems much higher than your represented 2%. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were one of the top race choices on my server. (I hear this is due to the escape racial. I took it because that’s how cool I am.)

I think many of the more casual Death Knights (myself included) may be stuck at 64 because of the progression from questing in Zangarmarsh to Terokkar Forest. Seems like zone transitions are a natural point for leveling fatigue to set in.

I belive that blood elf is a popular choice for death knight because with arcane torrent giving 15 runic power and horn of winter now giving 10 runic power the 2 combined give you enough for a free mind freeze.

Nothing surprising there, really. This quote cracks me up though: “There are almost no female players with orc characters,” because I’m a 30-something female player, and nearly all of my former or current endgame characters are orcs, including the 80 DK that has become my new main. Originally, it was to be my 80 orc shaman, but my ten man group already had a shaman, so my GM asked me to raid on my DK instead. The assumption is *definitely* that DKs are men. I would venture to say that they’re probably also quite young. I’d be curious to see age statistics on DKs.
