Fighting genre making a come back?

In the past few months we’ve seen Street Fighter 2 HD Remix, Mortal Kombat vs DC, now Street Fighter IV and not so long ago Soul Calibur IV.  Lots of our friends are talking about the new Street Fighter game, our friends lists are full of people checking out the game and Twitter has been buzzing with activity and stories on how hard the game is to find in stores. Is this the long coming come back of fighting games?
