Jon’s experiences include building online communities, designing games and growing successful companies. With a love for computer games and technology and a knack for company leadership, Jon’s experiences include creating online games and communities, implementing new technologies, and raising over $100 million in venture capital and public funding combined for his businesses.
Jon began his career in computer games at age 13, when his Space Empire creation became a cult classic on the Atari ST platform. He left college in 1991 to start NovaLink, an early online service company that produced one of the first commercial MMORPGs: Legends of Future Past. Legends ran for almost a decade, garnering prestigious awards including PC Game Review’s “Golden Triad” award and the “Artistic Excellence” award in Computer Gaming World’s “Game of the Year” competition.
In 1997, Jon started Eprise Corporation, a software company that pioneered the type of technology now referred to as blogs and wikis: software that enables people and companies to create and manage burgeoning, dynamic websites. After growing to over 250 employees, Eprise went public in 2000 (NASDAQ: EPRS; Eprise was acquired by Divine Inc. in 2001). Eprise Participant Server is in use by over 2,000 business customers today.
gamerDNA, Jon’s latest company, is the culmination of his experiences, combining the creativity and fun of the game industry with the know-how and technological expertise of designing interactive, online communities.
